Job summary

Poudre School District seeks an athletic coach to assist the Head Coach in high school sports, focusing on fundamentals, skill development, and sportsmanship. The role supports student athletes within CHSAA and PSD guidelines.

The position is a seasonal stipend with responsibilities from practice through competitions, including safety supervision, communication with families, and equipment management. Relevant licenses and a background check are required before coaching begins.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Coaching experience in the sport strongly preferred.
• Expertise in fundamental skills, rules, and schemes pertaining to the sport.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Valid Teaching License or Special Services License issued by Colorado Department of Education OR Valid CHSSA Coach Certification.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required before coaching assignment begins.
• Complete required trainings: Concussion, Blood Borne Pathogens, Child Abuse and Reporting, Sexual Harassment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach with practice sessions to develop sport skills and sportsmanship.
• Supervise student athletes before, during, and after school events; ensure safety.
• Attend and monitor practices and games.
• Communicate expectations to athletes and parents regarding practice schedules, games, academics, and sportsmanship.
• Follow CHSAA and PSD guidelines.
• Assist with inventory and security of equipment and supplies.
• Maintain equipment, supervise locker rooms, and coordinate extra practices.
• Report safety concerns and injuries to Head Coach and Athletic Director.
• Uphold district facilities access and reservation procedures.
• Arrive punctually and perform other duties as assigned.
