Job summary

Manitou Springs School District 14 in Manitou Springs, CO is seeking an Assistant Coach for 9th-12th grade girls basketball. The role supports the head coach, coordinates practice schedules, and ensures a safe, positive athletic environment.

The position runs 2 hours per day over a 90-day season and requires adherence to all district policies and eligibility rules. Willingness to obtain CHSAA certification, complete fingerprint background screening, and, if applicable, district activity bus

Qualifications

• Willing to obtain CHSAA certification and applicable school certifications
• Must complete a fingerprint/background screening
• Coaching experience preferred
• Ability to obtain and maintain district activity bus certification

Responsibilities

• Organizes and oversees specific program levels or areas of responsibility.
• Communicates with head coach and Athletic Director to secure facilities to ensure safe practice/competition environment for students.
• Supports the philosophy, programmatic instruction of sequential fundamentals and proper conditioning communicated by the head coach.
• Communicates and plans with the head coach practice sessions and competition strategies which ensure the health and physical well-being of the student participants.
• Coordinates with the head coach and Athletic Director a schedule of in-season practices.
• Assures that all student participants are in compliance with D14 requirements including current athletic physical, Code of Conduct, fees paid, and is academically eligible, prior to practice, tryout, and competition.
• Models and instills the values of sportsmanship and fair play to all participants, and enforces consequences for breach of such standards.
• Attends all student athlete practices, games, and monitors proper supervision at all practices, games, and on school provided transportation.
• Maintains and provides end-of-season individual and team records and statistics.
• Participates in a mandatory preseason parent meeting.
• Assists the head coach in planning for the seasonal recognition banquet.
• Assists in the orderly distribution and collection of uniforms and equipment.
• Engages in personal professional development activities.
• Drive students using district vehicles to and from events
• Other Duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director
