Job summary

Poudre School District is seeking an athletic coach to assist the Head Coach, developing fundamentals and advanced skills while complying with CHSAA and PSD guidelines.

The role focuses on supervising athletes, coordinating practice sessions, and communicating expectations to students and parents. A valid teaching or CHSSA certification and CPR/First Aid are required before starting coaching duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous coaching experience in the sport strongly preferred.
• Expertise in the fundamental skills, rules, and schemes pertaining to the sport.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Valid Teaching License or Special Services License issued by Colorado Department of Education OR Valid CHSSA Coach Certification.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required before coaching assignment begins.
• Complete required trainings upon hire: Concussion, Blood Borne Pathogens, Child Abuse and Reporting, and Sexual Harassment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach with practice sessions to develop sport skills and sportsmanship.
• Supervise student athletes before, during, and after all school sanctioned events; ensure safety.
• Attend and monitor practices and games.
• Communicate expectations to athletes and parents regarding practice schedules, games, academics, respect, and sportsmanship.
• Follow CHSAA and PSD guidelines.
• Assist with inventory and security of equipment and supplies.
• Assist with equipment maintenance, locker-room supervision, and extra practices.
• Communicate discipline procedures and safety concerns to Head Coach and Athletic Director.
• Demonstrate fairness and consistency in decisions related to participants.
• Adhere to district guidelines for building use and field access.
• Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
