Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a dedicated athletics coach to lead a school sport program under the supervision of the Athletic Director and Principal. You will conduct practices, oversee games, develop athletes, and ensure compliance with WIAA policies and district rules.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the sport and current coaching context in K-12 settings.
• Recent coaching experience preferred with K-12 athletes.
• Possess current First Aid and CPR or ability to obtain before start date.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience demonstrates solid organizational skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to work with diverse families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop and articulate a vision for the program emphasizing character and a positive experience for all athletes.
• Recruit student athletes for participation at the coach’s school.
• Conduct practices focusing on proper technique and mechanics.
• Attend and supervise games and execute game strategy.
• Attend yearly Coaches’ Institute training in August.
• Model sportsmanship for students, parents, and the school community.
• Organize, supervise, and evaluate practice sessions.
• Adhere to WIAA, league, district, and building rules and policies.
• Complete required trainings around sport rules and safety.
• Maintain uniforms and equipment; communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
