Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools seeks a dedicated athletic coach to lead a comprehensive program under the building Athletic Director, Principal, and District Athletic Director. The coach will manage practices, games, and strategy, while mentoring students and maintaining compliance with district policies.

The position emphasizes developing athletes, recruiting participants for the school, and modeling sportsmanship and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the sport for the position with VPS.
• Recent coaching experience with K-12 athletes preferred.
• Current First Aid and CPR card or ability to obtain before start date.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with diverse students and families.

Responsibilities

• Develop and articulate a vision for the program prioritizing character development.
• Recruit student athletes for participation at the school.
• Conduct practices focusing on proper technique and mechanics.
• Attend and supervise games and execute game strategy.
• Ensure adherence to WIAA rules and school policies.
• Maintain uniforms and equipment inventory.
• Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community.
• Attend Coaches’ Institute training annually in August.
