Job summary

Alexandria City Public Schools seeks an Advanced Academics Teacher (Gifted & Talented) for the 2026-2027 school year. This licensed, 10-month position (195 days) reports to the Advanced Academics Director and serves division-wide from Alexandria, Virginia.

Responsibilities include administering TAG programs, adapting instruction to individual plans, collaborating with staff and families, and documenting progress.

Qualifications

• Assists with TAG program administration and identification of TAG students.
• Adapts classroom work to address individualized learning plans.
• Administers developmental testing and related assessments to develop learning plans.
• Advises parents on student progress and goals.
• Collaborates with staff and community resources to improve student outcomes.
• Directs support staff and volunteers to address student needs.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates student learning with a defined lesson plan.
• Manages student behavior to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Organizes activities and monitors students across settings.
• Participates in meetings and prepares progress records.
