Job summary

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health's Gift Shop is seeking a customer‑focused, organized individual to support daily retail operations, including operating the POS system, data entry for inventory, and assisting volunteers.

This full‑time, 40‑hour per week role offers employee benefits, training, and opportunities to engage with staff and volunteers while ensuring accurate sales and shop floor operations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with 1 year of retail experience, or the equivalent required.
• Experience with the public and overseeing staff/volunteers in a fast-paced retail environment preferred.
• Tact and excellent verbal communication skills required.
• Familiar with personal computer use.
• Previous bookkeeping and budgeting experience; financial software preferred.
• Demonstrated competency in all electronic point of sale functions and cash handling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers, provides customer service, and maintains a presence on the gift shop floor.
• Manages inventory entries in the POS system with volunteer buyers.
• Unpacks, stocks, displays items, and assists with merchandise acquisition reports.
• Maintains daily gift shop operations in the manager's absence and resolves routine issues.
• Trains new volunteers and troubleshoots computer issues for volunteers.
• Participates in recruitment, hiring, and orientation of DH Gift Shop volunteers.
• Acts as cashier when needed and handles phone inquiries.
