Job summary

Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a PRN Registered Nurse for the GI Lab. You will assess patients preoperatively, educate families, and support perioperative care in a fast-paced surgical setting.

The role requires on-call availability with 30-minute on-site reporting and occasional weekend calls. Self-scheduling is posted four weeks in advance to provide predictability.

Qualifications

• RN license and nursing degree as required for perioperative care.
• ACLS and BCLS certifications within stated timeframes.
• Experience in preoperative evaluation and patient education is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients, including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including providers and staff.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to care delivery.
• Assess patient condition, monitor shifts, and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up.
