Job summary

Methodist Healthcare System in Texas seeks a Registered Nurse for the Endoscopy GI Lab on the Day shift. You will evaluate patients pre-operatively, educate families, and ensure surgical site verification and patient safety.

The role requires on-call during some non-business hours and active collaboration with providers and nurses to optimize care. You will work within a culture of mutual respect, ongoing equipment investment, and support from unit leaders to voice suggestions for patient care

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license or valid multi-state compact license
• ACLS certification within 90 days of start date
• BLS/CPR within 30 days of start date
• Experience in preoperative education and perioperative nursing would be an asset

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Educate patients and families about the procedure and perioperative process
• Prepare patients including IV therapy and preoperative medications
• Participate in surgical site verification per hospital policy
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices
• Collaborate with providers, surgeons, surgical technologists and team
• Document changes in patient condition and care provided thoroughly
• Educate patients on follow-up measures
