Job summary

Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL seeks an Endoscopy Technician to support the patient care continuum during procedures. You will assist with positioning, transport, and basic patient care, ensuring safe, efficient room setup and turnaround.

Under RN guidance, you’ll decontaminate endoscopes per SGNA standards, monitor equipment, and help with pre/post procedure care. The role requires flexibility for shifting times and call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent; minimum 1 year related patient care experience preferred.
• Knowledge of computer keyboard; basic computer skills; CPR certification.
• Good communication, organizational and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient patient transport to, within and from the unit.
• Assist with positioning of patients and basic patient care during procedures.
• Ensure patient safety during electrocautery procedures and proper grounding of equipment.
• Handle and transport lab specimens to and from the Lab.
• Assist with procedures under the guidance of the RN.
• Set up rooms and equipment for procedures and maintain turnover efficiency.
• Communicate pertinent information to the RN/Charge Nurse/Manager/Physician.
• Assist in pre/post-procedure care and patient dressing, IV removal as needed.
• Support safety initiatives and ensure proper decontamination of endoscopes per SGNA.
