Job summary

Advocate Health’s Sherman Hospital Endoscopy Department in Elgin, IL is hiring a Full-time Endoscopy Technician. The role involves patient transport, assisting with procedures, and ensuring safety during electrocautery, with rotating shifts and on-call responsibilities every 4th weekend.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent; minimum 1 year related experience; patient care experience preferred
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to cover call on evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must be willing to work rotating shifts with variable start times

Responsibilities

• Provide patient transport to, within, and from the unit.
• Assist with positioning of patients and basic care during procedures.
• Ensure patient safety during electrocautery procedures and proper grounding of equipment.
• Handle lab specimens and transport to the Lab.
• Assist with procedures under RN guidance and prep rooms and equipment.
• Communicate pertinent information to the RN/Charge Nurse/Manager/Physician.
• Support pre and post-procedure care and vital sign checks as needed.
• Maintain high level disinfection and proper decontamination of endoscopes per SGNA standards.
