Job summary

UCI Health is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant/GI Technician to support the H.H. Chao Family Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center. You will handle routine endoscopes, administer medications, and assist with procedures while supporting patient flow and documentation.

Qualifications

• Understanding of medical terminology and procedures.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and varying shifts.
• Ability to work weekends or evenings when required.
• Strong customer service and patient-facing skills.
• Completion of a relevant medical training program (MA/EMT/Surg Tech/GI).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic clinic environment.
• Proficient reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Process routine endoscopes and non-disposable equipment for GI procedures.
• Administer oral and injected medications as directed.
• Assist with endoscopic procedures and provide standby technical support.
• Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy as needed.
• Record patient data accurately and assist with patient flow in clinic hours.
• Support front office tasks: calls, records, reports, and patient files.
• Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment in line with surveys.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
