Job summary

University of California - Irvine Health is seeking a Medical Assistant/GI Technician to support the H.H. Chao Family Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center. You will handle medications, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and assist with endoscopic procedures, patient data, and clinic flow.

Qualifications

• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Must be able to participate in on call rotation and work occasional weekends & evenings.
• Flexibility to work variable shifts, including occasional weekends or holidays.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Demonstrated completion of a relevant medical training program (i.e., MA, EMT, Surg Tech, GI, etc.)
• Current BLS certification.
• Ability to work well in a constantly changing environment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Administer oral and injected medications.
• Assist with various office procedures and specimen collection.
• Provide standby technical assistance for routine endoscopic procedures.
• Assist with patient flow and clinic operations as needed.
• Record patient data accurately and maintain patient information.
