Job summary

North Carolina State University is seeking a VA School Certifying Official to manage the GI Bill benefits lifecycle for eligible students from admission to graduation.

The role serves as the primary institutional liaison with the VA, ensuring compliant, timely processing of benefits and maintaining related data within the SIS. A Bachelor's degree and VA system familiarity are required, with collaboration across departments and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Experience administering GI Bill education benefits or other veterans education benefit programs in accordance with federal and state regulations.
• Familiarity with VA systems and Enrollment Manager or similar VA certification systems.
• Experience using PeopleSoft, Oracle, or a comparable student information system to manage student records, enrollment, or benefit data.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex policies, regulations, or compliance requirements.
• Experience in higher education, government, or student services with collaboration across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage GI Bill benefits life-cycle from admission through graduation, including Montgomery GI Bill and Post-9/11 GI Bill.
• Serve as institutional knowledge resource for laws, regulations and guidelines related to veterans education benefits.
• Maintain NC State's GI Bill processes and data per VA requirements, including annual audit and compliance.
• Represent NC State in communications with the VA regarding GI Bill education benefits and certification matters.
• Assist with New Student Orientation and University Commencement.
• Other duties as assigned.
