Job summary

Mindrift is conducting a paid in-person study in Midtown Manhattan, seeking native German speakers living in New York City.

Participants will spend 3 consecutive days (Mon–Wed or Thu–Sat) with our research team, walking us through how you use your phone and favourite apps in daily life, and complete a short questionnaire.

Compensation is $100 per hour, up to $2,400 for the full study. Participation is voluntary and documented with consent.

Qualifications

• 18+ and currently living in NYC.
• A native German speaker who grew up in Germany.
• You use German in everyday life: texting friends, email, notes.
• You’ve used a smartphone as your main personal phone for 3+ years.
• Comfortable communicating in English.
• Available for 3 consecutive days (Mon–Wed or Thu–Sat), starting October 16 on Friday.
• Not currently employed by a tech or AI company.

Job description

Mindrift is running a research study on how people use their phones, apps and everyday digital tools, and how that differs across languages and cultures. We’re looking for native German speakers in New York to join a paid, 3-day in-person study in Midtown Manhattan.

Why your language matters

Most technology is still designed with English speakers in mind. This study helps researchers understand how people who communicate in German actually use their devices, so future products work better for them.
