Job summary

American University is seeking dynamic Language Coaches to join the CLEAR team. The people in this position help AU Students currently enrolled in World Languages courses to develop their world languages skills.

The Center for Language Exploration, Acquisition, and Research (CLEAR) supports faculty and language programs on campus by hosting staff and resources to enhance students’ language learning experiences.

Qualifications

• Be a native or highly fluent speaker of the language you intend to coach; familiarity with grammar and vocabulary is necessary.
• Candidates will be tested on grammatical, oral and writing skills in the target language and must be vetted by faculty.
• Previous teaching or training experience is highly desirable.
• Punctuality and reliability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Support the work of the faculty in the department of World Languages and Cultures at American University.
• Host staff and resources to enhance the language courses offered on campus and to facilitate AU students’ language learning experience overall.
• Assist with scheduling, rescheduling, and attending coaching appointments.
• Work as part of a team and help teammates when needed.
