Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Menlo Park, CA seeks a Geriatrics & Extended Care Certified Nursing Assistant (NA) to support the Community Living Center.

The NA performs personal care, diagnostic services, treatments and charting to promote residents’ dignity and well-being in short-stay or long-term care settings. The role requires compliance with VA standards, ability to follow care plans under supervision, and effective communication with patients and care teams.

Qualifications

• Experience must demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities in current nursing practice.
• Resume and references must verify experience.
• Part-time experience is creditable based on relationship to full-time workweek.
• Gives the full range for the NA, GS-3 to GS-5, including progression KSAs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges and postmortem care and nursing procedures.
• Assist ADLs: bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, ambulating and positioning.
• Promote cleanliness and health practices and educate residents.
• Feed and assist residents during meals and monitor dietary needs.
• Record vital signs and intake/output; observe and report abnormal findings.
• Perform diagnostic tests within scope and provide SBAR updates to supervisors.
