Job summary

St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine is seeking a compassionate Geriatrician to join our team in a full‑time role, delivering comprehensive care to older adults in the Lewiston‑Auburn community.

You’ll collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team, conduct thorough geriatrics assessments, develop individualized care plans, and help patients maintain independence, comfort, and quality of life through evidence‑based practice and shared decision‑making.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Eligible for an unrestricted Maine medical license.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with Epic or other electronic health record systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care to older adults, including long-term care patients.
• Conduct comprehensive geriatric assessments: medical history, physical exam, functional status, cognitive health, and medication review.
• Develop individualized care plans based on each patient’s medical needs, personal goals, and quality-of-life priorities.
• Manage complex chronic illnesses and multiple comorbidities common among older adults.
• Collaborate with nursing, advanced practice providers, rehabilitation professionals, specialists, social services, and other members of the care team.
• Partner with patients, families, and caregivers to support informed decision-making and care planning.
• Provide education regarding disease management, healthy aging, preventive care, and available resources.
• Coordinate care across specialties and healthcare settings to promote continuity.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Apply current evidence-based practices in geriatrics and long-term care medicine.
