Job summary

Advanced Health Care of Aurora is seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat residents’ speech, language, cognition, and swallowing disorders in a busy 54-bed facility. You will work weekdays, 8-hour shifts, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centered therapy and improve residents’ quality of life.

Qualifications

• CCC-SLP certification from ASHA.
• State licensure or eligibility to practice as an SLP in the work state.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in speech-language pathology, preferably in healthcare/long-term care.
• Knowledge of speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders commonly seen in geriatric populations.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and therapeutic skills.
• Compassionate demeanor with residents, families, and team members.
• Commitment to high-quality, resident-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents’ speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing abilities using standardized tools and interviews.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments, goals, and team input.
• Provide evidence-based speech therapy interventions for communication, articulation, voice, and fluency.
• Implement cognitive therapy to address memory, attention, and executive function deficits.
• Administer dysphagia evaluations and recommend diet modifications and swallowing exercises.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and dietary staff to coordinate care.
• Educate residents, families, and caregivers about therapy goals and strategies.
• Document therapy sessions, progress, and outcomes per regulations.
• Participate in team meetings and care planning to optimize resident care.
• Stay current with research and integrate best practices into clinical work.
