Job summary

Actalent seeks a Phlebotomist to perform blood draws and specimen collection in physician office settings serving patients of all ages, with emphasis on geriatric care. You will label, process, and store specimens, explain procedures to patients, and maintain accurate records across systems.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, sample preparation, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced clinic environment with a dedicated team.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment is required where applicable.
• At least 6 months of venipuncture experience in fast-paced settings.
• 2–4 years of clinical or related healthcare experience preferred.
• Knowledge of lab safety protocols and regulatory standards.
• Experience labeling specimens and matching requisitions to tubes.
• Proficiency with MS Office for documentation and communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection for all ages, including geriatric patients.
• Explain procedures clearly to patients to reduce anxiety and improve cooperation.
• Prepare, label, and process specimens following lab protocols.
• Verify requisitions, labels, and tube IDs for accuracy.
• Operate centrifuges and prepare samples for testing and transport.
• Maintain accurate patient data in systems and records.
• Adhere to OSHA and DEP safety standards and PPE usage.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support patient flow.
• Complete 20–40 blood draws per day in a fast-paced environment.
