Job summary

NPHire in San Francisco is expanding its geriatric pain management practice and hiring NPs and PAs as independent contractors to round on residents in skilled nursing facilities across the city.

The role is not full-time or part-time and can fit around your primary schedule—round before clinic, after clinic, on weekends, or on days off. Visits focus on pain check-ins, with 10–15 residents per hour and 4–5 hours per day.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted California NP or PA license.
• AGACNP-BC, AGPCNP-BC, FNP-BC, or PA-C certification.
• Active DEA registration.
• Comfortable prescribing and managing controlled substances.
• Able to travel between facilities across San Francisco.
• New grads welcome with RN experience in ortho, pain management, SNF, or high-volume ER.

Responsibilities

• Assess pain location, severity, and response during focused rounding.
• Adjust plans using pharmacological, non-pharmacological, and interventional approaches.
• Prescribe and manage pain medications, including controlled substances.
• Coordinate referrals for physical therapy, acupuncture, spinal blocks, and other interventions.
• Educate patients and families on pain management strategies.
• Document in TEBRA and PointClickCare.
• Build strong relationships with facility leadership and staff.
