Schofield Care in Buffalo, NY seeks a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to provide restorative and maintenance therapy under supervision of an Registered Occupational Therapist. Duties include implementing therapy plans, instructing residents, and assisting in adaptive equipment fitting.

The role emphasizes evaluation, documentation, and collaboration with the therapy team to support residents’ goals and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Education and Training - Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Assistant Program approved by the AOTA and current certification; NYS registration.
• Experience - geriatric setting is desirable but not mandatory.
• Character - compassionate and patient with elderly clients.

Responsibilities

• Carry out OT treatment procedures as designated by the Registered Occupational Therapist.
• Instruct registrants to perform self-help and follow-up activities.
• Assist in the fitting of orthotic/assistive devices and proper use by residents.
• Evaluate progress and report observations to the supervising OT.
• Document progress notes and ensure they are countersigned.
• Prepare required reports for the OT and other programs as needed.
• Coordinate, establish, and administer programs and procedures as assigned.
• Supervise and guide support staff and participate in related meetings.
• Assist in wheelchair clinic and fabrication of adaptive equipment when needed.
• Screen caseload and perform home visits as required.

Education
