Job summary

The Director of Nursing at Lutheran Senior Services oversees the nursing staff to deliver professional care to residents in our long-term care facility, ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations.

The role emphasizes supervision, policy development, documentation, and hands-on patient care as needed, with involvement in surveys, staff training, and disaster preparedness to maintain a safe, compassionate, and compliant care environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing.
• Two+ years of related supervisory experience in a geriatric environment.
• Must be CPR certified.
• Must hold a current state RN nursing license; BSN preferred.
• Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Must be able to follow direction written or oral.
• Must have patience, tact, flexibility, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm as well as the willingness to handle difficult situations.
• Must have legible handwriting, good telephone and filing skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and monitors daily activities of the nursing services department staff.
• Maintains consistent application of EverTrue policies; participates in coaching/counseling as necessary.
• Participates in development, maintenance and updating of written policies and procedures for Nursing Services.
• Performs administrative duties including workforce evaluations, scheduling, medical record documentation and RAI/MDS.
• Participates in direct resident care when necessary.
• Participates in committee meetings as required.
• Acts in the absence of Nursing leadership as Director/Charge Nurse/MDS Coordinator.
