Job summary

Dodge County Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for its geriatric behavioral health unit. This PRN position covers day shifts (7AM–7PM) with variable hours, focusing on comprehensive nursing care, assessment, and individualized care planning for geriatric psychiatric patients.

The RN will administer medications, monitor responses, and collaborate with the treatment team to promote safety, stabilization, and recovery, while adhering to hospital policies and DNV requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current Georgia Nursing License.
• RN licensure active and in good standing.
• Experience in gero-psychiatric or geriatric behavioral health care preferred.
• BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to geriatric patients with psychiatric, behavioral, and cognitive health conditions.
• Assess patients and develop individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments with monitoring for responses.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and ensure patient safety.
• Document accurately and comply with hospital policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team and educate patients and families.
• Assist with crisis intervention, triage, and psychotherapy support as appropriate.
• Orient new staff and participate in department research as needed.
