Job summary

Dodge County Hospital is seeking a licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit (New Directions). The role provides direct nursing care to geriatric patients with psychiatric, behavioral, and cognitive health needs during day shifts from 7am to 7pm.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse with current LPN licensure.
• Experience in geriatric, psychiatric or behavioral health care preferred.
• Strong teamwork and communication with interdisciplinary staff.
• Proficient in medical terminology and charting practices.
• Proficient with MS Office and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing care for geriatric patients under RN supervision.
• Conduct nursing assessments and reassessments per policy.
• Monitor and document physical and behavioral status; observe for changes.
• Administer medications within scope of practice; ensure five rights.
• Communicate with team leaders, physicians, and staff to coordinate care.
• Maintain accurate documentation and patient safety during shift.
• Provide education to patients and families about treatment plans and medications.
• Support the plan of care and adapt as patient response dictates.
