Job summary

Invenergy, based in Chicago, seeks a Project Engineer, Thermal to support development, permitting, engineering, construction, and commissioning of geothermal and thermal power projects across North America. You will manage third-party consultants, specify configurations, prepare bids, and review engineering deliverables throughout the project life cycle.

The role requires a strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and combustion turbine performance, with 3+ years in project

Qualifications

• BS in an engineering discipline and 3+ years in project engineering management for large capital projects.
• Experience with geothermal or thermal power generation and project design.
• Familiarity with regulatory siting and environmental permitting processes.
• Ability to translate subsurface energy into usable power and understand heat transfer concepts.
• Proficient in Excel modeling and data analysis.
• Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship; valid US driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review basic and detail design for power generation projects.
• Advise on project feasibility based on geothermal technologies and constraints.
• Lead technical efforts during development and collaborate with engineers and geophysicists.
• Perform and review thermal heat balances for thermal power projects.
• Coordinate site selection, environmental studies, permit applications, and geotechnical investigations.
• Interface with equipment vendors and review technical deliverables.
• Oversee design and construction activities and interface with contractors.
• Assist commissioning activities and align work with financial objectives.
