Job summary

Ormat is seeking a Plant Operator to ensure safe and efficient operation of a geothermal power plant in the United States (Hawaii). Responsibilities include monitoring systems, responding to alarms, and maintaining production to meet grid demands.

The role requires adherence to safety procedures, ability to work 12-hour shifts, and carrying out maintenance and training activities as needed. English proficiency and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficient in MS Excel, Outlook, and Internet.
• English communication skills required.
• Experience: Plant Operator 2 requires 6 months as Plant Operator 1 or equivalent tasks.

Responsibilities

• Strictly adhere to safety procedures and complete operator qualifications.
• Operate and monitor power-generation equipment during normal, maintenance, and emergency operations.
• Review operating data and troubleshoot abnormal indications.
• Log plant activities and ensure production aligns with grid requirements.
• Plan and schedule plant activities and update operating procedures.
• Perform preventive maintenance and fire equipment testing.
• Assist with lockout/tagout procedures and safety training.
• Communicate clearly with plant personnel to coordinate tasks.
