Job summary

Fervo Energy Company is seeking an I&C Operations Engineer to own the day-to-day reliability and performance of Cape Station's SCADA, PLCs, and field instrumentation. You will work with operations, maintenance, and engineering to resolve control-system issues, improve automation, and scale the Geoblock product.

The role emphasizes fast diagnosis, continuous improvement, and disciplined program ownership to keep a 24/7 geothermal facility running at full output.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Electrical or Chemical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years in I&C engineering at operating industrial, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
• Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Rockwell Studio 5000.
• Experience with Ignition SCADA, including HMI development, tagging, alarming, and historian integration.
• Industrial communication protocols: Modbus TCP/IP, EtherNet/IP, and OPC-UA.
• Experience with field instrumentation calibration, loop checks, and sizing/selection of transmitters, valves, and meters.
• Familiarity with MOC programs, P&IDs, PHAs/HAZOPs, and PSSR activities.
• Experience developing and executing small capital projects and contractor management.
• Strong writing and communication skills; high ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

• Serve as site technical authority for I&C: PLCs, Ignition SCADA, field instrumentation, and networks.
• Monitor performance to identify reliability risks and optimization opportunities across ORC, gathering, and surface facilities.
• Lead RCA/AARs for control-system issues; implement corrective actions.
• Define preventive maintenance strategies for instrumentation and control assets; develop field procedures for calibration and maintenance.
• Maintain up-to-date I&C drawings, loop diagrams, I/O lists, and wiring schematics.
• Own and improve Cape Station's Ignition SCADA application, dashboards, alarming, and reporting.
• Develop KPI displays tracking power output, availability, and efficiency; support Geoblock SCADA architecture evolution.
• Troubleshoot field control-system issues; size and specify replacement instrumentation; manage procurement and installation.
• Support MOC activities, PSSR, and participate in PHAs/HAZOPs as I&C SME.
• Identify and scope small capital I&C projects; prepare AFEs, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Collaborate with IT/OT, operations, maintenance, and engineering to ensure security and reliability.
