Job summary

The Geotechnical Senior Project Manager at ECS Group leads complex geotechnical and CMT projects in our Chesapeake office, from proposal through delivery. You’ll ensure technical quality, client satisfaction, and financial performance while guiding a multidisciplinary team.

You will mentor junior staff, support business development, and coordinate field investigations, reporting, and client communications, upholding ECS Core Values.

Qualifications

• 5 years of related experience in geotechnical engineering or CMT.
• Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or similar.
• A P.E. or P.G. license is required in each state you work, or eligible for reciprocity within three months of hire date.
• Valid driver's license required if driving for ECS.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Advanced project management and consulting skills.
• Strong business development and client relationship skills.
• Extensive knowledge of geotechnical principles and applications.
• Strong working knowledge of construction materials testing and ASTM standards.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software.
• Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a consulting environment.
• Ability to mentor and develop staff.

Responsibilities

• Leads and manages geotechnical and CMT projects from proposal through completion
• Oversees preparation and review of geotechnical reports, including technical analysis and recommendations
• Ensures all project tasks, from proposal to final invoice, are completed accurately and on time
• Manages project budgets, change orders, invoicing, and collections
• Reviews field reports and ensures quality, accuracy, and completeness
• Prepares and oversees proposals and contracts
• Serves as primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders
• Hosts and participates in project meetings to present findings and provide technical solutions
• Supervises field investigations, drilling, and testing activities
• Provides technical oversight and verifies calculations and recommendations
• Mentors and develops junior staff, technicians, and project managers
• Supports staffing decisions and resource allocation
• Performs other duties as assigned
