Job summary

ICOP is seeking an Area Manager to support preconstruction and business development for geotechnical projects in the Metro DC region. This role bridges engineering, sales and operations, working with owners, developers, GC's, engineers and internal teams to develop solutions, pursue opportunities and secure profitable work.

The ideal candidate has a strong engineering foundation, knowledge of geotechnical construction methods, and excels at building long-term client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or geotechnical field.
• 5+ years of construction experience; geotechnical background preferred.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical systems (drilled shafts, micropiles, soil mixing, shoring, ground improvement).
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to read and interpret geotechnical reports and construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with owners, developers, general contractors, and consulting engineers.
• Identify and qualify new project opportunities within the Metro DC market.
• Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and networking functions.
• Serve as a technical resource during preconstruction and pursuit phases.
• Review geotechnical reports, plans, and specifications to identify risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with estimating and operations to develop constructible solutions.
• Assist with bid strategy, scope definition, value engineering, and alternative designs.
• Support proposal development and client interviews.
• Track market activity and maintain CRM records for client interactions.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering/Construction Management
