Job summary

PCL Construction, Inc. within Civil West seeks a Geotechnical Risk Manager to lead geotechnical due diligence, interpretation, and risk management across preconstruction and estimating efforts.

You will translate subsurface data into actionable procurement and construction strategies, collaborating with designers and specialty subs to mitigate risk. Strong background in heavy civil and underground works, with PE preferred, and a focus on constructability and contingency planning to protect

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 10–15 years in heavy civil construction, geotechnical engineering, or major underground/site work projects.
• Demonstrated experience with preconstruction, estimating, and risk management.
• Strong understanding of subsurface variability and uncertainty.
• Ability to translate geotechnical data into practical construction and cost decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical due diligence, interpretation, and qualification of reports.
• Develop geotechnical narratives and assumptions for estimates and proposals.
• Establish estimating approaches for earthwork, deep foundations, and underground work.
• Coordinate with designers and subs to validate constructability and reduce risk.
• Support risk-based estimating and contingency decisions.
