Job summary

PCL Construction, Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Risk Manager in Long Beach, CA. You will lead geotechnical risk assessment during preconstruction, translate subsurface data into accurate estimates, and guide risk mitigation across estimating, planning and work packaging.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 10-15 years of experience in heavy civil construction, geotechnical engineering, or major underground/site work projects.
• Demonstrated experience with preconstruction, estimating, and risk management.
• Strong understanding of subsurface variability and uncertainty; translate geotechnical data into cost decisions.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Geotechnical Due Diligence & Interpretation: review and qualify reports, borings, and data.
• Preconstruction Estimating & Means and Methods: develop estimating approaches for earthwork, deep foundations, underground construction; establish production rates.
• Risk Identification & Management: identify and mitigate geotechnical risks to cost, schedule, safety, constructability.
• Design & Stakeholder Coordination: collaborate with designers and subcontractors to validate constructability and influence design.
• Transition to Construction: handoff with clear geotechnical assumptions and risk ownership; provide on-site support as needed.
