This is a direct hire job, offering a salary between $180K-$150K. Here are some more details to consider:

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the review and interpretation of geotechnical, geologic, geophysical, environmental, demolition-related, and historical subsurface information.

  • Develop geotechnical narratives, assumptions, estimating approaches, and construction means and methods for earthwork, excavation, deep foundations, shoring, underground utilities, tunneling, shafts, dewatering, demolition, and ground improvement.
  • Establish production rates, crew compositions, equipment assumptions, and sequencing plans based on soil, groundwater, and other subsurface conditions.
  • Identify and quantify geotechnical risks that could affect project cost, schedule, safety, constructability, or productivity.
  • Develop geotechnical risk registers, mitigation plans, contingencies, allowances, qualifications, exclusions, and proposal clarifications.
  • Collaborate with designers, geotechnical engineers, owners, and specialty subcontractors to validate constructability and reduce construction risk.
  • Support alternative technical concepts and value-engineering solutions related to geotechnical and underground construction.
  • Facilitate the transition from preconstruction to operations by documenting geotechnical assumptions, recommendations, risks, and ownership strategies.
  • Provide consultative geotechnical support to project teams during the early phases of construction as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10-15 years of experience in heavy civil construction, geotechnical engineering, major underground construction, or complex site-work projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with preconstruction, estimating, constructability, and risk management.
  • Strong understanding of subsurface variability, soil conditions, groundwater conditions, and their impact on construction productivity, cost, and schedule.
  • Ability to translate complex geotechnical information into practical construction, estimating, and cost decisions.
  • Professional Engineer license is preferred.
  • Experience with water/wastewater, transportation, or other large-scale infrastructure projects is preferred.
  • Experience working across both design and construction environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with alternative delivery methods, including Design-Build and CMAR, is preferred.
