Job summary

Shannon & Wilson, an employee-owned geotechnical engineering firm in Seattle, seeks a Senior Geotechnical Instrumentation Engineer. You will lead instrumentation design, data evaluation, and field installations, while mentoring staff and supporting client projects.

The role requires a PE license within 12 months, strong communication, and ability to travel as needed. Competitive compensation and benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

  • BS, MS or PhD in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Geological Engineering.
  • 7-14 years of progressive geotechnicalInstrumentation experience.
  • Ability to obtain PE license within 12 months.
  • Mentoring and supervisory experience.
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage effort on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Provide geotechnical instrumentation design, procurement, installation, and data evaluation for clients.
  • Manage and format data from instrumentation projects.
  • Maintain instrumentation equipment and calibrations.
  • Travel up to several weeks as needed to support field installations.
  • Prepare and review instrumentation reports and calculations.
  • Interact with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise engineers and staff.
  • Support other offices with instrumentation projects and training.
  • Assist in business development and marketing activities.
