Job summary

ECS Group is seeking a Geotechnical Field Technician to perform field and laboratory testing for geotechnical and construction materials projects. The role emphasizes subsurface exploration, observation of soils, and data collection under supervision.

The candidate will handle boring layout, DCP testing, sample logging, and documentation while coordinating with contractors and project managers. Field conditions vary and require safety-focused work ethic and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and obtain core certifications within defined timelines.
• Effective communication and basic math skills are required for field reporting.
• Ability to read maps and construction plans; valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs field and laboratory geotechnical testing and observation.
• Schedules and conducts borings, test pits, and field tests with GPS/ surveying.
• Logs soil samples and documents field observations clearly.
• Supports data reduction and project documentation.
• Maintains field equipment and ensures safe operations on site.
• Communicates site conditions daily with project teams and contractors.
• Assists with report preparation and calculations as needed.
