Job summary

ECS Southeast, LLP is seeking a Geotechnical Field Technician to perform field and laboratory testing for geotechnical and construction materials projects. The role is primarily field-based, involving subsurface exploration, construction observation, and testing under project managers and senior staff.

You will develop technical skills through hands-on experience, earn certifications, and contribute to accurate field data and client communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One certification must be completed within 90 days, including Radiation Safety, Soils I, and Concrete I.
• Additional certifications applicable to the work may be required.
• If driving for ECS, a valid driver's license is required.
• Strong communication and basic math skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Performs layout of borings and test pits using surveying techniques and GPS.
• Observes and classifies soils, test pits, and subsurface conditions.
• Performs hand auger borings, DCP testing, and field investigations.
• Logs soil samples and documents field observations.
• Assists with data reduction and field/project documentation.
• Performs testing, sampling, and inspection of construction materials.
• Assists with laboratory testing and sample classification.
• Communicates daily with contractors, PMs, and team members about site conditions.
• Supports report preparation, calculations, and documentation.
• Maintains field equipment and documents test results.
