Job summary

ECS Southeast, LLP is seeking a Geotechnical Field Technician to perform field and laboratory testing for geotechnical and construction materials projects. The role is primarily field-based, involving subsurface exploration, construction observation, and testing under project managers and senior staff.

You will develop technical skills through hands-on experience, earn certifications, and contribute to accurate field data and client communication.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
One certification must be completed within 90 days, including Radiation Safety, Soils I, and Concrete I.
Additional certifications applicable to the work may be required.
If driving for ECS, a valid driver's license is required.
Strong communication and basic math skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Performs layout of borings and test pits using surveying techniques and GPS.
Observes and classifies soils, test pits, and subsurface conditions.
Performs hand auger borings, DCP testing, and field investigations.
Logs soil samples and documents field observations.
Assists with data reduction and field/project documentation.
Performs testing, sampling, and inspection of construction materials.
Assists with laboratory testing and sample classification.
Communicates daily with contractors, PMs, and team members about site conditions.
Supports report preparation, calculations, and documentation.
Maintains field equipment and documents test results.
