Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in Philadelphia or Exton, PA is seeking a Construction Field Technician for our Geotechnical team. This is a fully field-based role with hands-on training in soil, concrete, asphalt, and site testing.

No prior industry experience is required. You will perform field tests, complete daily reports, transport and manage equipment, and communicate with project teams to help meet quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• 0+ years of related experience.
• ACi/Asphalt/Nuclear Density Gauge certification; OSHA 10 required and OSHA 40 if applicable.
• Geotechnical knowledge; OSHA 10 required and OSHA 40 if applicable.
• Valid driver's license and ability to read plans and specs.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to learn technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing procedures accurately according to standards and specifications.
• Complete daily reports and testing documents completely and timely.
• Transport, handle, and maintain equipment and supplies responsibly.
• Communicate effectively with management, contractors, and clients in writing and verbally.
• Work independently with supervision and comply with Health & Safety policies.
• Ability to work weekends/evenings/overtime; overnight travel may be required.
• Test concrete for slump, air content, unit weight, and temperature; fabricate cylinders.
• Test engineered fill using field density methods; be familiar with Construction Material Testing.
• Test bearing materials and observe/document ground improvement programs.
• Perform soil moisture-density tests and interpret civil site drawings and plans.
