Job summary

Intertek Building & Construction in Columbus, OH is seeking a Field Geologist/Engineer to support geotechnical explorations, oversee drilling and sampling, and document subsurface conditions in coordination with the home office.

The role combines field and occasional lab work, requires a geology or engineering degree (ABET preferred) or equivalent experience, strong communication, and willingness to travel 50–75% with overtime as needed. Intertek emphasizes safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering, Construction, or Earth Science from ABET-accredited school (or equivalent).
• Alternatively, 1+ year of geotechnical drilling or subsurface exploration experience.
• Strong math, calculator, and computer skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read work plans and travel 50–75% as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide field representation during geotechnical explorations.
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, PSI staff to meet project specs.
• Prepare subsurface exploration field drilling logs.
• Maintain client relationships and develop new opportunities.
• Attend client site meetings and communicate effectively with project teams.
• Perform on-site observations, sample collection, and field tests; occasional lab work.
