Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Field Geologist/Engineer in Columbus, OH to perform geotechnical field explorations, supervise boring and logging operations, and coordinate with the home office and clients. The role involves travel 50-75% and potential field/lab work, with a focus on safety and accuracy in subsurface investigations.

The position requires a Geology or Engineering degree (ABET-accredited) or equivalent field experience, strong communication skills, and readiness for overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geology, Engineering, Construction, or Earth Science from ABET-accredited school is required*
• If no degree, 1+ years' experience in geotechnical drilling or subsurface explorations may substitute for degree
• Must have basic math, calculator, and computer skills
• Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and strong interpersonal skills
• Must be able to travel 50-75% of the time
• Valid driver's license and reliable driving record

Responsibilities

• Provide field representation during Geotechnical Explorations
• Develop relationships with clients, subcontractors, and PSI staff to meet project specs
• Prepares subsurface drilling logs
• Maintain client relationships and seek new project opportunities
• Attend client site meetings
• Communicate effectively with client and project teams
• Work on one or more projects concurrently
• Perform on-site observations, sample collection, and field tests
• Occasionally work in the field and laboratory
• Adhere to safety practices and policies for personal and team safety
