Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Geotechnical Staff Engineer to join the Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team at the Columbus, OH office.

The role involves field logging, soil laboratory work, and geotechnical report writing, with opportunities to engage with client sites and project teams. The ideal candidate has a Civil/Geotechnical engineering degree with EIT/FE readiness and familiarity with GeoStudio, LPILE, APILE, SHAFТ, SLIDE, and related tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
• Recent graduates will be considered.
• Ability to obtain EIT/FE certification within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of engineering software (GeoStudio, APILE, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, SLIDE, Settle3 and MSEW) is preferred.
• Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are required.
• Must be able to read and understand work plans.
• Occasional overtime and travel up to 10% may be required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical field logging and soil laboratory assignments.
• Write geotechnical reports.
• Review project plans and specifications.
• Attend client site meetings.
• Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
• Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• May perform on-site observations, sampling, and testing.
• Work in field and laboratory environments, sometimes outdoors.
