Job summary

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Staff (Civil/ Geotechnical) Engineer - Construction for our Tukwila, WA office. You will perform field investigations, geotechnical testing, and engineering analyses under supervision, with some nights and weekends possible.

A Bachelor of Science in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering is required. Strong communication skills, a valid driver's license, the ability to lift 30–50 pounds, and outdoor work in varying weather are

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering required.
• Knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals and soil mechanics.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable driving record.
• Ability to lift 30–50 pounds regularly; occasional over 50 with assistance.
• Willingness to travel overnight occasionally.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to work off shifts/overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide support in geotechnical field investigations, including logging soils borings, percolation testing, and soil strength testing.
• Assist in preparing cost estimates and proposals.
• Perform engineering analysis under supervision of a professional engineer.
• Review project plans and specifications prepared by others.
• Attend client site meetings and communicate effectively with client and project teams.
• Perform testing and inspection tasks in the field and laboratory.
• Operate testing equipment, conduct testing, and report data.
• May manage projects, train and oversee technicians, and review field and lab data.
