Job summary

Intertek in Tukwila, WA is seeking a Geotechnical Special Inspector to perform field inspections and materials testing on transportation/heavy civil projects in the SeaTac area. You will read plans, record results, and ensure QA/QC standards on site.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years geotechnical inspection experience, a valid driver's license, and strong communication skills. This role offers competitive hourly pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

5+ years relevant geotechnical inspection, quality assurance and quality control experience on transportation/heavy civil projects.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be fluent in English.
Must be able to read plans and specifications.
Must be able to work off shifts and overtime.
Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record.
Ability to lift 30–50 pounds frequently and work outdoors in varied weather.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and inspection duties under general supervision.
Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
Read and interpret plans and specifications.
Maintain and calibrate standard equipment.
Make detailed observations and provide interpretation of results.
Train/supervise and perform complex assignments and work tasks.
Attend project meetings alone without supervision.
Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
Communicate effectively with client and project teams.
