Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. seeks motivated geotechnical and construction engineering technicians for casual-on-call roles across multiple sites, including Michigan.

You will perform inspection, testing, and data collection on soils, concrete, and related materials, supporting subsurface exploration and field operations for municipal, commercial, industrial, and federal projects. Essential Responsibilities & Duties

GEI is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform a broad range of geotechnical and construction engineering technician inspection and testing duties as a casual-on-call employee on both short and long-term projects in various locations.

Candidates will support a broader geotechnical engineering and construction services team in completing geotechnical laboratory testing, overseeing subsurface exploration activities, and performing construction inspection activities on a variety of municipal, commercial, industrial and federal projects to document the construction activities performed by others are consistent with project specifications and drawings.

Candidates will also provide materials testing and data collection for all types of construction projects including, but not limited to, foundation subgrade testing, soil density testing, field testing of concrete and will also perform various laboratory testing of soil and concrete materials.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma required, AS degree in Engineering Technology, BS in Construction Management, or related field highly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Previous experience in construction inspection and testing capacity with experience in soils, concrete, and bituminous paving.
• Previously certified from ACI in soil or concrete testing and State of Michigan highly desired or the ability to obtain certifications.
• Previous Resident Engineering Experience is a plus.
• Must be willing to travel on temporary assignments as necessary, including field assignments.
