Job summary

NV5 is seeking an Engineering Manager Geotechnical/Construction Materials Engineer for our San Diego, CA office. The role combines design leadership with construction materials testing and inspection, focusing on school and public infrastructure projects.

Qualified candidates will be a registered California PE with 5+ years in testing and inspection, and exposure to DSA/HCAI and Caltrans requirements is preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering and PE licensure required
• Strong leadership and project management capabilities
• Proven ability to manage multiple teams (laboratories, inspectors, technicians)
• Experience with DSA/HCAI, Caltrans is preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Engineering Manager for laboratory testing and special inspection services on DSA/HCAI, Caltrans and local jurisdiction projects
• Plan, assign, and evaluate work of inspectors and technicians
• Review field and laboratory reports and plans
• Manage projects from inception through completion and meet client expectations
• Develop technical and cost proposals and deliverables
• Lead recruitment, training, and development within the department
• Conduct annual performance reviews and monitor progress toward goals
