Nevada Department of Transportation in Las Vegas, NV is hiring a Manager I, Professional Engineer to administer construction contracts and lead field operations. You will guide crews, ensure training, safety, and project compliance while representing the department in public interactions and coordinating documentation.

Essential duties include budget input, managing the Construction Office and Lab, negotiating change orders, and promoting a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and three years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience in a supervisory or responsible project charge capacity.
• Or licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience; or one year of experience as a Manager I, Professional Engineer in Nevada State service; or three years as Supervisor, Professional Engineer in Nevada State service.
• Roles involve leading projects, coordinating staff, and ensuring contractual compliance with safety and technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Interact with internal managers and executives to solve problems and negotiate solutions.
• Direct and manage subordinate staff; set performance standards and evaluate performance; manage disciplinary actions as needed.
• Represent the department at hearings, meetings, and with media to provide information and answer questions.
• Assist in budget development and attend finance and status meetings for the division.
• Provide technical engineering assistance and testify in court proceedings as required.
• Perform related duties and manage statewide contracts and complex programs.
• Oversee operations of major work units within the department under general direction.
