Job summary

NV5 is seeking an Engineering Manager, Geotechnical/Construction Materials Engineer in San Diego, CA. The position oversees design and construction inspection/testing, manages projects, and leads a multidisciplinary team of technicians, inspectors, and lab staff to deliver quality results.

The candidate should be a California-licensed PE with 5+ years in testing/inspections, and 2+ years in special inspections.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering is required.
• Registered PE in California is required.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in testing and inspection of construction materials.
• At least 2 years’ experience in special inspections or supervising special inspection services.
• Experience with DSA/HCAI and Caltrans special inspection and materials testing is preferred.
• Strong ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and review technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Engineering Manager of laboratory testing and special inspection services on DSA/HCAI, Caltrans, and local jurisdiction projects.
• Plans, assigns, prioritizes, evaluates, and reviews the work of inspectors and staff for quality and timeliness.
• Review field and laboratory reports, plans and specifications, and manage client expectations.
• Project management from inception through completion, ensuring technical excellence, budget, and schedule.
• Lead recruitment, training, mentoring, and development of department staff.
• Conduct annual performance reviews and monitor progress toward goals.
• Develop proposals, technical deliverables, and other documents; assist in business development.
• Lead safety efforts and ensure compliance with safety rules and guidelines.
