Job summary

X4 Engineering in California is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Manager to lead engineering operations and grow the business across infrastructure, healthcare, education, and commercial sectors. You will supervise engineers, field and lab technicians, and drive project delivery with a focus on quality and client satisfaction.

The role requires a PE license, 5+ years in geotechnical/geological work, and strong soil/rock mechanics expertise.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of geotechnical or geological experience.
• Strong grounding in soil and rock mechanics.
• Clear, defensible report writing and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers plus field and lab technicians, overseeing day-to-day operations.
• Own the P&L: budgets, staffing, utilization, invoicing and profitability.
• Direct subsurface investigations, seismic/liquefaction evaluations, slope analysis and design recommendations.
• Act as geotechnical engineer of record on DSA (schools) and HCAI (hospitals) projects.
• Set and enforce QA/QC standards in the lab and field.
• Drive business development into infrastructure, healthcare, education and commercial work.
• Mentor junior staff and build strong relationships with clients, agencies, architects and contractors.
