Job summary

UES, Inc. invites motivated students to join a 10-week Geotechnical Engineering Internship. You will gain hands-on exposure to geotechnical investigations, soil sampling, and data collection while learning how subsurface conditions influence construction projects.

You will work with experienced engineers, participate in field activities, and prepare technical reports. Capstone project culminates in a presentation for department leadership.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Completion of at least two years of coursework preferred.
• Strong engineering foundation with interest in fieldwork and testing.
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD or GIS is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
• Team-oriented and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist with soil classifications and boring log creation using AutoCAD
• Collect field samples with a hand auger and update boring logs
• Organize, label, and log material samples in accordance with QA standards
• Maintain accurate and detailed field and lab reports
• Calibrate and clean testing equipment as required
• Adhere to company and safety protocols at all times
• Other duties may be assigned
• Capstone Project: complete a specialized capstone project that presents field and lab experiences to department leadership.
