Job summary

GFT is seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical, Dams & Hydraulics team in Pittsburgh, PA. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum 3 days of onsite office attendance.

December 2026 graduates are encouraged to apply and you will contribute to innovative geotechnical solutions for sustainable infrastructure across power delivery, transit, rail, highway, and structural projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Demonstrated interest in geotechnical engineering through coursework, internships, or related work.
• 0-3 years of geotechnical experience with subsurface exploration and/or design deliverables.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel as needed including overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and overseeing subsurface explorations and analyses.
• Perform geotechnical calculations and designs for foundations, retaining structures, and slope stability.
• Prepare written reports, geotechnical correspondence, drawings and specifications.
• Plan subsurface explorations and laboratory testing investigations.
• Perform subsurface investigations including boring inspections and site reconnaissance.
• Provide geo-construction observation during construction phases.
