Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants in Atlanta, GA (Kennesaw area) is seeking an Early-Career Geotechnical Engineer to apply academic knowledge to real-world projects across site characterization, earthworks, and geotechnical design.

You will participate in field investigations, monitor heavy civil construction, perform engineering calculations, and contribute to reports while developing expertise in software such as AutoCAD, Slope/W, and PLAXIS. Travel for projects is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering (required).
• Advanced degree in one of those fields (preferred).
• Prior internship or work experience in engineering consulting (preferred).
• Research experience in geotechnical engineering, geomechanics, numerical modeling, earthquake engineering, foundations, dams, or related disciplines (preferred).
• Experience with geotechnical software such as AutoCAD, Slope/W, and PLAXIS (preferred).
• Occasional field work and overnight travel (required).
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing (required).
• Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical field investigations.
• Monitor heavy civil construction projects.
• Perform and review engineering calculations.
• Engage in earthquake engineering activities.
• Contribute to landfill design and permitting.
• Evaluate dams and levees.
• Develop construction documents; write and review reports.
• Drive to client sites and project offices as needed.
